Archetypal building code (3d interface) launched.

Archetypal building code (3d interface) launched. This software is an add on to SketchUp which allows 3D buildings to be generated from binary numbers in an Excel spreadsheet. The theory is Phil Steadman's brain child and something he has been developing for many years. Hopefully this interface will provide a quicker way to visualise the results of a binary string, (previously these 3D representations were painstakingly hand drawn). The work has important implications for the potential carbon footprint of a building, since it calculates the amount of floorspace that is naturally lit and the amount of floorspace that needs to be 'artificially' lit (since it is too far from a window or atrium).

Archetypal building constructed from binary number - the roof is removed, showing the yellow areas (artificially lit) and the blue areas (naturally lit). The binary code for this building is 111111111111111 - 111111111111111
